Above the entrance to the great harbour of Souda, where Paleokastro stands today near the village of Megala Chorafia, the extensive ruins of the ancient city of Aptera (also referred to as Apteria, Apterea, or Aptaria) can be found. 

The name Aptera, according to one tradition, derives from Apteron, king of Crete, son of Kydon and father of Lappios, who is said to have lived in the time of Moses around 1800 BC. The legend of Apteron lends itself to the suggestion that the city was once a colonial settlement governed by the Dorian Apteros or Aptaros who took part in the occupation of Crete towards the end of the Minoan era.
 

Marialena Villas consists of:
•Six detached one bedroom villas of 60 m2, set around a shared swimming pool (0,90 to 2,20 m deep) with children section. 

Each villa can accommodate up to 4 guests. There is a master bedroom, spacious living room with sofa-beds and kitchen corner, bathroom and large veranda.

•Four detached two bedroom villas of 100 m2, set around a shared swimming pool (0,80 to 1,70 m deep) with children section.Each villa can accommodate up to 6 guests. There are two (2) bedrooms, spacious living room with sofa-beds and kitchen corner, two (2) bathrooms and large veranda.
All Villas are equipped with individual heating, air-conditioning, solar panel and water heater, fireplace, safety deposit box, telephone, television, hairdryer, emergency kit and fire extinguisher.

There are also kitchen facilities such as: fridge-freezer, full size oven, toaster and coffee maker. In the large garden of 1.500 m2, apart from the swimming pools with the umbrellas and tanning beds, there is also a barbeque, a playground, a nice place which serves as meeting point and a car parking.

Cancellation Policy

Should you cancel this reservation, please note the following cancellation terms:

• 5 days or more before your arrival - there are no cancellation fees.
• 4 - 2 days before your arrival - 1 night will be charged as a cancellation fee.
• Less than 2 days before your arrival - 50% of the total amount will be charged for as a cancellation fee.
• Departure before the scheduled departure date - the full amount for the nights stayed will be charged for as well as 50% of the total for the nights not stayed as a cancellation fee.
