AROLITHOS is the unique traditional private Cretan village. It lies just 11 kilometers away from Heraklion, along the old national road connecting Heraklion with Rethymnon.
Built on the slope of a mountain, in the wild Cretan landscape, the village is a feast for the eyes, evoking memories from the past of older generations as for their way of living while revealing the simplicity and beauty of old times to younger generations.

AROLITHOS is a family - run business. It was implemented with great passion and love for Cretan tradition. Its goal is to bring Cretan tradition, the customs and habits of the region, the architecture and the values of Cretan people into relief, through a project that will stay alive for a long time to come. AROLITHOS is a Cretan word, which means “a rock’s hole gathering rainwater”. The village AROLITHOS has taken that symbolic name because it encompasses the tradition and beauty of Crete, just like the hole in the rock gathers water. Here, visitors escape from the tiring everyday routine for a while and is taken back to the past, where everything used to be pure and genuine.

In Arolithos, the hotel rooms are arranged in small “neighborhoods”, scattered all over the premises. Each of them has its en suite bathroom, a refrigerator, as well as a TV set and an air conditioning system. Moreover, the rooms used in the winter have a fireplace that could be used on request. The rooms provide basic equipment while being of a traditional style. Most of them have balconies or courtyards, where our guests have the opportunity to enjoy the garden view or the view over the surrounding hills.

The hotel was built in the form of a Cretan village. It is not a real village with permanent residents, but a representation of one. The hotel rooms are not situated in a main building. They are arranged around the village in such a way that it reminds small neighborhood alleys. The hotel has been built on a hillside.

In the summer season, namely April – October, the restaurant and the tavern operate at the same area, which is the central village square. Both facilities operate daily. Besides their participation in scheduled events, our guests have the opportunity to enjoy themselves to the sounds of live music.

The tavern operates according to the schedule of the rest of the complex. This means that there is a summer season and a winter season of operation. The summer season starts in April and last through October and the winter season starts in November and ends in March.
At the beginning of June, which is also the beginning of the summer, the tavern services are rendered at the spacious, central restaurant. Thus, our guests have the opportunity to enjoy their meals outdoors – at the village square – while participating in the events that take place in the area.

The cafenion lies in the center of Arolithos. It is a picturesque, traditional café with its own haunters. Raki, stewed dessert fruits, coffees and beverages are served there.
During the summer months, our guests have the opportunity to relax at the little square just outside the cafenion and to enjoy some shots of raki accompanied by tidbits or meze (assorted tidbits platters).

The café bar of Arolithos is one of the most privileged spots of the village, due to the stunning panoramic view one gets from there.
Situated very close to the Big Tavern square and above the Small Tavern, it has been established as a meeting point for those who enjoy a bird’s eye view. Coffees, beverages and spirits are served in this place.

Should you cancel this reservation, please note the following cancellation terms:

In case of cancelation in more than 15 days prior to arrival, the total cost will be refund.
In case of cancelation within 8 – 14 days prior to arrival, 50% of the total cost of the reservation will be refund.
In case of cancelation within 0 – 7 days prior to arrival, no refund.
